Member/Associate Member Information 2006
Hello!
Thank you for your interest in the
Colorado Press Association, which represents more than 150
daily and weekly Colorado newspapers. We have almost 160
associate members. They include non-member newspa pers,
magazines, television stations, radio stations, public
relations firms and other businesses and groups having an
interest in the newspaper/community industry.
Full members are newspapers that have
published 52 consecutive weeks and have qualified for a
second-class postal permit.
Any individual, group or organization may
apply for associate
membership but must pass approval by the
full membership.
Names of potential members (both
individuals and groups) are printed in our monthly publication,
the Colorado Editor, which is sent to CPA members and associate
members at the beginning of each month. If there are no
objections filed at our office within 2 weeks, we'll consider
the application cleared, and we'll mail you official
notification of your acceptance into CPA.
Associate members enjoy all CPA benefits
except for entering the CPA-sponsored annual contest and voting
at the annual business meeting we have in February.
Associate-member newspapers can also participate in CPA's
advertising program if the advertisers request they do so.
Seminars, publications, press credential
(where applicable) and other services are part of membership,
including a subscription to the Colorado Editor.
2006 memberships run from Jan. 1, 2006 to
Dec. 31, 2006. Renewal forms are sent out to every member for
the next year.
We organize great meetings and seminars on
a variety of pertinent topics, including Freedom of Information
(FOIA) issues.
CPA helps you and your staff keep current
with our Web site, www.coloradopressassociation.com and monthly
printed
Colorado Editor. We also send
information via e-mail with the
latest happenings for CPA, as well as other journalism events.
What are your other CPA benefits?
Regional meetings are free to
members and many seminars are only offered to members.
We can place your job/classified
postings on the CPA Web site and in our printed Editor at a
discounted rate
As a CPA member, you are also
eligible for press credentials and plates.
A current Colorado Newspaper
Directory and your member logo are included in your membership.
And you
subscription to the Colorado Editor will
begin with the next edition.
In conjunction with CPA, Colorado Press
Service offers additional resources:
An excellent clipping service with
complete coverage of all Colorado newspapers on any subject,
and even
clippings from other states, for a
reasonable price.
CO/SCAN and CDAN -- A one-stop
service to place your classified ads and display ads statewide
or regiona
ly, to save you valuable time.
CPS represents CPA member papers to
clients for direct advertising buys to increase revenue.
A press-release service sends your
information statewide to our member newspapers and offers
current labels for more accurate mailings.
I hope this is helpful to you in finding
out more about our association. Again, thank you for your
interest and, should you have any questions, please don't
hesitate to call.
Sincerely,
Kelli Windlan Executive Assistant, ext. 10
