Co/SCAN continued...
What proof can we offer our customers that the ad ran?

CPS will send an affidavit to your client or to your newspaper if requested. Just indicate which you prefer on the order form. Our office monitors each newspaper participating in the network. We guarantee the statewide advertisers that they receive at least 90 percent circulation of the network member newspapers.

Will the ads be published under proper classification?

The Co/SCAN ads are built at CPS and formatted according to classifications. The newspaper receives this block ad with all the line and display ads already intact and in their proper classification making it easy for the participating newspaper to handle the ads.

Are there any network ads CPS will not accept?

CPS and each participating newspaper reserves the right to edit all copy submitted and to reject that which is not in compliance with state and federal regulations, is in poor taste, is false or misleading, deceptive or otherwise unacceptable.

The CPS Standards of Acceptance (see sales brochure) will be followed in judging acceptability of ads submitted either by clients or participating newspapers.

What word-count method is used?

Street and direction, and post office box numbers count as two words. Rural addresses, including route and box numbers count as two words. Telephone numbers and city, state, and ZIP code each count as one word. If you are unsure, please call us.

What day should our newspaper publish the network ads?

Newspapers publish the ads according to their schedules. Weekly and community newspapers print all the ads on their day of publication. Dailies may select one day from Monday through Saturday to run the ad through that same time period. Be sure the ads run according to the dates on the CPS sheets - they are the dates given to the customer.

Do we bill CPS for Co/SCAN ads?

No. All newspapers participating in the network agree to run the ads free of charge to CPS. By selling the Co/SCAN ads and sharing twice a year in the Pay-Back Fund, you develop a new business resource and add to your profits.

Enroll Your Newspaper Today

The CoSCAN program is approved by the Colorado Press Association Board of Trustees and functions as another advertising/marketing solution that Colorado newspapers and their extended advertising sales partner, Colorado Press Service can offer to targeted classified advertising clients locally, regionally or nationally.

Advertisers can place a 25 word or less classified line ad in more than 100 participating newspapers with a single order through your office. The total network placement investment is $240 with your newspaper keeping $50 of the $240 and $3.50 of the $7-per-word rate when someone from your ad staff sells the ad.

You have to publish each ad one time during the scheduled week and the placement must be in classifieds. CoSCAN template ads can be provided to your newspaper in the most convenient format for you: a mailed hard copy for scanning/copying or e-mailed as a pdf file.

There are no long-term commitments so if at anytime you feel the program doesn't fit your strategic needs simply call to cancel your participation and we'll remove you from the list. Enrollment and cancellations are done on a quarterly basis. We will process your request accordingly. But once it's rolling we feel you'll want to remain part of this active advertising solution.
